The 2009 season had a cold spring which slowed the growing cycle, followed by warm summer to catch up then ideal conditions - dry, warm and sunny - which enabled a trouble free harvest, if you picked in time.
2012 Naked Winery "Penetration" Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750 mL
Manufacturer: Naked Winery
Brand: Naked Winery
We were very happy with 2012 as the vintage was very similar to 2008. It is one of the best in recent memory. Fall conditions supported long hang times without over ripening. That steadiness allowed the fruit to develop great structure and elegance. This is balanced with acidity from the cool nights plus the concentration of color, tannins and richness because of the warm days.
2010 Volta Cabernet Sauvignon Mission Ridge Napa Valley 750 mL
Manufacturer: Volta Wine
2010 was another ideal growing season in the micro-climate that is Mission Ridge Vineyard (despite challenges in the rest of Napa Valley). The summer was warm and dry and harvest extended deep into October. Our 2010 Volta Cabernet Sauvignon is another great expression of what our beautiful vineyard and this unique vintage have to offer.
This vintage is one of the Global Climate Change extremes, very cool, very late and, at the end, wet. Very early warmth at bud break, cool and wet Springtime weather, a cool growing season with the least heat we've seen in this 40 year industry, followed by ripening that was Indian-Summer like for awhile, then bringing a wet two-week late harvest. Very low pHs, higher acids and lower alcohols promise great, long-lived, balanced wines.
