2006 Terra Blanca Arch Terrace Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 750 mL
Manufacturer: Terra Blanca Winery
Brand: Arch Terrace
The 2006 was a typical growing season, although slightly cooler than normal. Harvest began September 29 and finished October 3. Small lot fermentation with multiple native and selected yeast types (BDX/CSM) in open tanks were hand punched during the fermentation process four times per day which adds to the complexity of the wine and allows the depth and power of our estate Cabernet Sauvignon to show through. Aging for up to 24 months in French oak barrels (82% new) and a further six months of aging in the bottle before release. The name Terra Blanca, Latin for white earth, is named for the high calcium carbonate content that whitens soils of our Red Mountain vineyard and helps produce the incredible depth and structure in the grapes. The first grapes were harvested from our estate vineyard in 1997
m and dry weather followed the previous year's late April freeze gave this vintage a much greater concentration of flavor layers. Will cellar very well. At Westbrook Wine Farm, we literally "make" our wine in the vineyard. In our Fait Accompli Vineyard, we grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenère. We work all year to assure that all six varieties will mature at the same time, so they may be harvested together (not all grapes mature with the same sugar content). Conventional growers may tell you this cannot be done. With an open mind, however, and management efforts concentrated toward that end result, it most certainly can be done.
2011 Lucie Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley 750 mL Wine
Manufacturer: Bacio Divino
Sourced entirely from the Bacigalupi family's estate vineyard site in the Russian River AVA, this wine is a prime example of why the area has come to be known for Pinot Noir. The grape has always had a reputation amongst winemakers as the easiest varietal to drink and the most difficult to produce. We feel that the 2011 Lucie is our best offering to date: a cooler year allowed us more hangtime to truly develop complex flavors while still allowing us ripen the grapes to their fullest potential.
Originally a tobacco field, this now mature vineyard and boutique winery produces wine following 1st Growth production guidelines. The 2010 Red Blend has a deep ruby color with aromas of clove, black pepper and plum on the nose and dark fruits on the palate. With just under 2 years aging in French oak barrels, this full-bodied blend has soft, sweet and balanced tannins. 2010 was a warmer than average year with dry conditions leading to an early harvest under textbook conditions. A percentage of Selendi earnings go to support an all girl's vocational school in the Akhisar province of Turkey that the winery owner build and donated to the government. Enjoy this beautifully made wine while supporting the empowerment of the Turkish youth. Turkey is an emerging wine region. Many believe that modern-day Turkey is the birthplace of wine. Turkey has more than 800 genetically different indigenous varietals and the wines are made with both international and native grapes.
2012 Dumas Station "Excursion" Estate Walla Walla Valley Syrah 750 mL
Manufacturer: Dumas Station
Brand: Dumas Station
Dumas Station Wines was started in 2003 by two Walla Walla natives, Jay DeWitt and Doug Harvey, after a few years of making wine in a garage. Winemaker Jay DeWitt calls himself a recovering wheat farmer, while his partner Doug Harvey is a recovering attorney. Jay and Doug took a humble approach to building a winery and fixed up an old apple-packing shed known as Dumas Station--the site of one of the oldest apple orchards in Washington, started by James Dumas in the late 1800s. This isn&apos;t known as a fancy winery with lots of high-tech equipment; Jay &amp; Doug rely on friends and family for help with the harvest. They spend the rest of the year racking the wine--one oak barrel at a time.
