2012 Keyways Vineyard and Winery Limited Selection Riesling, Temecula Valley 750 mL
Manufacturer: Keyways Vineyard and Winery
Brand: Keyways Vineyard and Winery
Temecula Valley, located in the Southern California wine country, had a great 2012 grape harvest. The year began with a cool spring and early summer, which gave the grapes quality time to develop. While this resulted in a longer growing season for the grapes, the high heat in mid-August and early September led to a quick-paced harvesting across the valley. Overall, yields were slightly higher than forecasts—5-8 percent higher in some areas. Grape quality was really nice— fantastic color and strong flavor concentration providing a balanced juice.
After two vintages with some of the coolest temperatures on record, 2012 presented us with warm, consistent weather. The dry summer produced fruit of a rich full character in a perfect tension with acidity. The heat units allowed ever so slightly higher alcohol levels.
2014 Willamette Valley Vineyards Late Harvest Riesling 375 mL
Manufacturer: Willamette Valley Vineyards
Brand: WILLAMETTE VALLEY VINEYARDS
The 2013 vintage was marked by a particularly cold and wet spring, resulting in a low fruit set. Spring was followed by an idyllic long, warm and dry summer that produced grapes of exceptional flavor development and ripeness. Rain came late in the season and created two ranges of quality in the vintage. Prior to the rain the fruit was bright and acidic. After the rain the fruit was more highly evolved with added sweetness. This vintage highlights concentrated, well-balanced red wines while offering a wonderful purity of fruit and complex flavors in the whites. Overall the vintage will be known for its excellent aging potential, lower alcohols, balanced acidity and overall concentration.
